Frobishers' favourite Devon Restaurants - The London Inn

 Fourth on our list of fantastic places to eat out during Devon Restaurant Month is The London Inn – one of South Devon’s best kept secrets.

The friendly and welcoming village pub is run by Tim and Katie Palmer who, since taking over The London Inn in 2013, have transformed it into a ‘home from home’, serving the very best classic British dishes with a focus on the fresh seafood available locally.

We spoke to Tim to find out what he loves about food and drink in Devon and his top foodie recommendations are.


Q. What do you think makes the food and drink of Devon special?

A. We benefit from using local produce of excellent quality. When you add great preparation and presentation, it makes food here outstanding.

Q. What makes the London Inn different to other pubs and inns in Devon?

A. It’s difficult to say, but we describe ourselves as ‘The Village Pub on the Green’ and I think it’s being the village pub and at the heart of the community that makes us stand out.

Q. Do you have any favourite local suppliers or producers?

A. We use many local suppliers for food, beer and wine, but I would highly recommend Otter Brewery over many others due to the consistent quality of the products.

Q. Aside from the London Inn, where is your favourite foodie place to visit in Devon?

A. I went to the Cott Inn, Dartington, with my wife and little boy recently and that was great – fantastic food and atmosphere.

Q. What one dish would you recommend we try when we visit the London Inn?

A. Definitely our seafood platter, it’s a hugely popular dish and people love its exceptional presentation.
